Layne is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. She was a scholarship student in Western Kentucky University's nationally renowned journalism program, graduating magna cum laude. During her time at WKU, Layne served as both a reporter and a editor of the school's newspaper.

Layne graduated from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in May 2010, where she ranked in the top 15% of her class. During law school, Layne worked in the Loyola Law School Clinic as a Student Practitioner for the Workplace Justice Project.

Layne currently focuses her practice on litigating pharmaceutical injury cases in state and federal courts across the country. Along with other members of the firm, Layne also represents individuals who have been injured or killed in auto accidents, motorcycle accidents, and tractor trailer accidents, as well as those who have been injured by nursing home negligence, medical negligence, and defective products.
