The attorneys at Jones Ward PLC recently filed a lawsuit against Abbott Laboratories on behalf of a Kentucky family over the recalled product Similac Isomil Soy Baby Formula. The product, which was recalled in September of 2010 for having beetle parts beginning in August 2008, caused the family's infant son to suffer a pyloric stenosis and have a feeding tube inserted. Numerous Similac products were recalled by Abbott, although Abbott has denied that the tainted product caused injuries.

Plyorus is the valve that allows food to pass from the stomach to the first part of the small intestine. In pyloric stenosis the muscles of the pylorus are thickened and prevent the stomach from emptying into the small intestine, which can cause multiple health risks to an infant child. Similac Isomil Soy Baby Formula was on the market for over two years with beetle parts that have the ability to cause this condition. Fortunately, in Kentucky, children are allowed to bring a lawsuit for any injury they suffer as a minor up until a year after their eighteenth birthday. Therefore, any children suspected of being harmed by this product, even as far back as August of 2008, still have the ability to investigate possible legal action.
